About
Select News Journal is about the decisions readers make before, during and after reading. It covers selection, formats, attention, reading lists and revisiting texts, for people who want to spend their reading time deliberately without turning it into another chore.
What we cover
We examine how to choose a text for a particular purpose, compare ways of reading, keep a manageable list and decide when to return to something. The emphasis is on choices a reader can try and adjust, not on prescribed routines or claims that one method suits everyone.
Who it is for
The publication is for general readers with more things to read than time to read them. You might be selecting a book for a short break, sorting a backlog, or trying to give a demanding text a fair chance. No specialist background is assumed.
Our approach
We separate preference from universal advice. When comparing options, we name the trade-offs and the reader each option may suit. We favour small decisions that can be tested in ordinary life, and we do not treat finishing every text as the measure of a good reading habit.
