Select News Journal

Editorial policy

Select News Journal aims to make sound, usable points about reading choices without presenting opinion as fact. We keep the scope clear, explain the reasoning behind recommendations and correct errors when they come to our attention.

Accuracy and scope

We check factual statements against the material available to us and use careful wording when a point depends on context or preference. Articles should distinguish a general observation from a recommendation, explain important limitations and avoid implying that one approach works for every reader. We do not claim research, testing or expertise that has not taken place.

Independence and interests

Editorial decisions are made for reader relevance and clarity. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable view. Where a relationship could matter to a reader's understanding of material, we will describe it plainly alongside that material.

Partner material

Paid placements and other material created with a partner are labelled clearly where they appear. Partner involvement does not remove the need for clear language or appropriate context. We do not present promotional copy as independent editorial judgment.

Corrections and illustrations

If you spot a factual error or a confusing statement, contact us through the Contact page with the article and passage in question. We review the issue and correct material when warranted. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where relevant, the image or its caption will say so.
